In Tech: Twitter Is Serious Business

The internet’s new darling is without doubt, Twitter. Awareness and usage of this micro-blogging phenomenon is skyrocketing around the world, and recent events like the Hudson Miracle and the Toronto Blackout have pushed it deeper into the mainstream.

Twitter 101: What is Twitter?

While Twitter is great for casual conversation and making personal connections, its potential as a legitimate business tool is gaining more traction and attention with each passing day.

Companies like Starbucks, Comcast, Dell, JetBlue and Whole Foods and a growing army of companies of all sizes are using Twitter daily to foster a better connection with their customers.

In its most basic form, it may become your new ’1-800′ number, and used to its fullest potential it could completely re-invigorate and re-define the public perception of your company and how it speaks and engages with customers.

Companies can use social networking to create an “authentic” experience for their customers by creating a relationship that’s responsible and repeatable. Creating authentic experiences for clients creates a sense of brand loyalty and increase revenues.

We’ll be doing more in-depth posts on how Twitter and other hot technologies can benefit your business in our upcoming ‘In Tech’ section.
